Biography

Greg Sacks, MD, MPH, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He is a surgical oncologist specializing in diseases of the pancreas, liver, and bile ducts, with a clinical focus on pancreatic cancer and pancreatic cystic neoplasms, particularly intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs).

Dr. Sacks’ research centers on improving surgical decision-making for pancreatic cysts through outcomes research, decision science, and patient preference elicitation. He is the recipient of an NIH/NCI K08 Career Development Award supporting his work on risk-based frameworks for surgery versus surveillance in IPMN. His research integrates clinical data, decision-analytic modeling, and shared decision-making tools with the goal of reducing overtreatment while maintaining oncologic safety.

Dr. Sacks is actively involved in international collaborations focused on pancreatic cyst biology, outcomes, and guideline development and is committed to advancing evidence-based, patient-centered care in HPB surgery.
